Umbilical cord blood stem cells are used in the treatment of 70 diseases

A transplant of cord blood stem cells can be used to treat many life-threatening illnesses, including leukaemia. Due to this fact, more and more parents choose to store cord blood in stem cell banks. The procedure of collecting the blood during childbirth is simple and safe, both for the mother and the child. The blood can be stored, for a fee, at a private bank for the use of the child or relatives, or, free of charge, at a public bank for the use of unrelated patients in need. – says prof. dr hab.
